iPhone ‘home’ button earrings are for serious fangirls (and guys) only

We’ve seen plenty of phone-inspired earrings — it’s a multitasking age, after all, so it’s not really a surprise to see gadgets inspire jewelery . It is kind of surprising to behold these earrings, however, which appear to have been made with iPhone ‘home’ buttons

Kivu’s G-Five KTNO2 netbook sports ridiculous ‘aerodynamic’ design, could be the wind beneath your wings

There are a lot of improvements we here at Engadget like to see in netbooks — more SSD storage, higher-resolution screens, less flimsy construction — but not a one of us put “greater aerodynamic lift” anywhere on our list. Someone at Kivu Technology Co. apparently did, as the company has launched this G-Five KTNO2 netbook, a machine that is at the same time boringly derivative and patently ludicrous

Autonomous Roombas do Pac-Man right (video)

We’ve seen mixtures of Roomba and Pac-Man before, but nothing like this. A team of developers have hacked five floor-cleaning bots to create a sort of OCD version of the game, with the Pac-Man bot sucking up little white rectangles whilst being chased by robot incarnations of Inky, Pinky, Blinky, and Clyde. But, when the Pac-Man vacuum finds a power pellet those ghostly rovers turn blue and start fleeing.

3M unveils 3D panels for portable devices

Among its many virtues gadget-wise, 2009 has seen 3D technology go from irritating to… well, not quite so irritating . Of course, with so many companies working to develop a satisfactory way to bring the third dimension to our TVs and computers, it’s only a matter of time before we find a device that accomplishes the goal without giving us a headache. And now 3M , who’s been really digging their heels into display technology as of late, is debuting a 3D panel that eschews the glasses for something called conoscopy: the surface of the devices features a film with lenses on one side and prism structures on the other that display the corresponding left- and right-eye portions of the image. Currently available in both 9-inch and 2.8-inch LCD panels, the company is said to be gearing up for volume production, so it may not be long before they begin featuring on portable devices. Who knows?

QNAP brightens up its NAS offerings with new TS-210 model

What’s this? A QNAP NAS that doesn’t stick to the company’s traditional dark industrial look? Amazing but true, and yet another sign that the company is increasingly looking to bring the NAS out of the office and into the home — a move that could only be further bolstered by a certain celebrity endorsement

Ask Engadget: Best ‘green’ power strip out there?

We know you’ve got questions, and if you’re brave enough to ask the world for answers, here’s the outlet to do so. This week’s Ask Engadget question is coming to us from Randall, who isn’t ashamed of his unbridled love for Ma Earth. “I just moved into a new apartment and have been reading about all of the new power strips out there, especially the green ones. I was wondering if you had any suggestions about which “green “power strips are out there with decent joules ratings. And when I say green, I mean power strips that have the remotes or switches to turn off all electricity flowing to certain plugs and with at least 2 plugs that are always on. I was looking specifically at sub $50 because I will need two, but if that is not possible I could be convinced otherwise. Thanks!” Don’t be afraid to wave your green pride around here, folks.
