Samsung puts price tags on its next receivers, soundbars and Blu-ray HTIB systems

There’s more than just HDTVs on the way from Samsung this year, it’s also picked today to reveal the price and ship dates for its Samsung Apps -equipped Blu-ray HTIB systems (HT-C7530W pictured above and all due in March or April) and HDMI 1.4-equipped 3D passthrough compatible receivers. Even though the cool kids are already on to HDMI 1.4 a , that should be good enough to pass through 3D video and handle audio all in one cable so if you’re planning a whole home theater revamp before Avatar comes home in 3D ( whenever that is ) you’ll probably want to grab one with the feature . Other than the 7.1 channel HW-C770BS for $549 shipping this month, there’s also a $499 HW-C900 model with multi-zone and video upscaling features for $499, though when it will arrive is still TBD. Humax HD-FOX T2 is first Freeview HD box in the UK, garners positive review

When you think back to the dark ages of the nineties — just four terrestrial channels and the inevitable snowflakes on your screen if you were in a poor reception area — it just wasn’t a very good time for free television in the UK. Fast forward to today, and dirt-cheap Freeview boxes are getting their inevitable, in fact somewhat belated, upgrade to HD. The Humax HD-FOX T2 will cost a predictably hefty £170 ($270) at launch, but as its kind starts to infiltrate the market that price should suffer an equally appropriate precipitous fall.

This is It Blu-ray release debuts movieIQ Sync, brings more Michael Jackson info to your iPhone or PC

Unfortunately, the most telling element of this Blu-ray news is that it didn’t merit a mention during Sony’s CES keynote, but a new BD-Live feature will be included on This is It . movieIQ Sync updates the original by allowing users to pull up additional movie info on a PC or iPhone synchronized with the movie — we’re guessing the recently released FBI files won’t be included — without it popping up on the television. The other new feature is the ability to create & share customized playlists of the songs featured in the flick. We’ve been waiting for an event that would change both the reality and perception of internet connected features on Blu-ray — and there’s still some hope — but this probably isn’t it. HTC’s TouchB gets demonstrated, featurephone status confirmed (video)

This isn’t going to be fun, so we’ll just say it and get it over with: the HTC Touch.B isn’t the updated Android smartphone we’d been hoping for . As it turns out it isn’t even a smartphone, relegated to the realm of the featurephone by running Qualcomm’s BrewMP OS. Full Flash support is nice, and we must say the UI has a charming, simple look to it, but it all looks a little… limited, and that screen seems awfully small given the size of the phone now that it’s been turned on. See for yourself: there’s a quick video demo after the break to get you primed for this one to ship sometime next year. Fring brings one-way video calling to the iPhone

Fring was the first to bring VoIP calls to the iPhone, and it looks like it’s now finally done the same for video calling — sort of. While it obviously can’t do much to change the camera placement on the iPhone, the latest version of the app will at least let iPhone users (and iPod touch users, for that matter) see the person on the other end, and Fring says it’ll add two-way video calling whenever “a front camera is placed on these.” As with the company’s app for Nokia devices, you’ll also be able to make video calls to Skype users, but you’ll have to make sure you’re in the vicinity of a WiFi hotspot, as this one doesn’t support calls on 3G. Head on past the break for a video. T-Mobile pushing CLIQ firmware update today? (update: yes!)

TmoNews seems to have it on good authority that T-Mobile will be rolling out a firmware update over the air to the Motorola CLIQ today — the device’s first since launch — and we’ve got good news and bad news. First, the bad: by all accounts, it appears that this’ll still be an Android 1.5-based firmware, adding fuel to the fire suggesting that UI skins like BLUR are a huge barrier to keeping devices up to speed with Google’s breakneck release pace. The good news, though, is that the update seems to be lined up to fix a plethora of issues involving Bluetooth, touchscreen accuracy (we can attest to this one), connectivity, accelerometer functionality, and — wait for it — battery life! Looks like the build number is 1.1.31, so let us know if and when you get hooked up, owners. Update: We’ve gotten tips from several users now that they’ve already been able to nab the update, so it looks like the CLIQ is definitely getting a little better today. Well, hopefully, anyhow.
